2018 Ontario Literacy Requirement

The OSSLT will be written on April 10, 2018. Registration information will be posted on our website at a later date.

If you started high school after September 1999, and wish to obtain your Ontario Secondary School Diploma, you are required to complete 30 credits (18 compulsory and 12 optional), the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Requirement (OSSLR) and 40 Community Involvement Hours.

You can meet the OSSLR by successfully completing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT). The test is administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) once a year. It is usually written for the first time in Grade 10 or after most of the Grade 9 credits have been earned, including the Grade 9 English.

To plan and prepare for the test, you can find information and support regarding the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test on the EQAO website: http://www.eqao.com/en/assessments/OSSLT

Please call or email us at ilc@tvo.org Attention Guidance- OSSLT if you have additional questions.
