How to Use the ILC SearchUse the pull down menu to choose between searching the entire ILC site or individual sections. Key Word SearchChoose the word or words you wish to search carefully. Be as specific as possible. For example, if you want to see if the ILC offers the grade nine math course you want and you type in the word math, you will see everything in the entire ILC site that uses the word math. Instead, try this. Select Courses in the pull down menu, and type in “grade nine math” (with quotation marks). Now you will see search results that more closely reflect what you are looking for. Boolean SearchThe ILC search allows you to use the words “and” “or” and “not” to help refine you search even more. Once again, say you are searching for grade nine math courses. You could type in math or mathematics to help you find your topic. To make sure you find grade nine math courses you can enter "math and grade and nine". Now lets get really specific. If you want to find an applied grade nine math course, try typing in "grade and nine and math and applied". |
