Grades
These are the courses that are listed by grades in the Ontario high school curriculum. Courses in Grades 9 and 10 fall into one of three categories: academic, applied, and open. Courses in Grades 11 and 12 are designed to prepare students for a post-secondary destination—university, college, apprenticeship training or the workplace.

Levels
These courses are not associated with any particular high school grade. They include such courses as English as a Second Language, Classical Studies, International Languages, Native Languages and Study Skills.
