Community Groups: Testimonials

The ILC has partnered successfully with hundreds of community and local organizations, employers and labour groups to offer GED® Testing. Here are recognitions from several of our partners attesting to the potential for group testing.

Letter from St. Christopher House

April 16th 2008

On behalf of our GED® program staff and tutor volunteers, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for always extending us with prompt and efficient assistance to students who apply for the GED® exam. The GED® certificate that our students obtained is a passport to more gainful employment, or further education and training. It gave them independence and opened a lot of other opportunities.

Special thanks goes to Ana Da Silva, who has been accommodating and a great help during the turnover of duties to our new team of staff in December and early this year. As well, we acknowledge the effort of the ILC overall in making sure that we are able to continue the delivery of the GED® and Academic Upgrading program.

As we start a new fiscal year 2008-2009, we look forward to a stronger partnership with the ILC, along with the other partners to carry on the GED® program with success.

Letter of Thanks from CAMH

November 24, 2005

The CAMH LEARN General Educational Development Preparation Program wishes to thank you and your staff for the excellent, efficient, and helpful manner that we have experienced with the Independent Learning Centre over the last 3 1/2 years.

In particular, Ana DaSilva has been very supportive in coordinating all aspects of the GED® application process for LEARN clients who are writing their examinations. In addition, the special accommodation process for our clients is working very smoothly under Ron's guidance. Both of you are a pleasure to work with. As the teacher, I appreciate your prompt service because it makes a huge difference in the lives of our clients.

You answer all the questions directed to you about everything from exam dates to statistics. We look forward to a continuing partnership with the Independent Learning Centre.

Letter of Thanks from YWCA

August 10, 2003

We are writing to express our appreciation for the ongoing partnership the YWCA of Greater Toronto continues to enjoy with the Independent Learning Centre's GED® program. For many years our participants have benefited from receiving their GED® certificate. The GED® certificate has enabled them to enter the workforce, an apprenticeship and/or apply for further training or education. As well, this achievement is a major boost to their self-esteem as they strive for socio-economic independence.

The co-operation our staff has received from your office has made the delivery of our preparation program very smooth and enables us to deliver, we believe, a quality program. We would particularly like to thank you for the extra assistance your office, in particular Ana Da Silva, has provided over the past months as our GED® Coordinator position changed from Anne LeBlanc to Mary McCall. Mary visited your office in June, met with Ana with ideas and suggestions being exchanged to smooth the GED® exam process. She also appreciated the information about GED® you shared.

We look forward to a continued partnership with the ILC, GED® program. If we can further strengthen our partnership in any way, please let us know.

Yours truly,

Evd Pakyam Manager, YWCA LEAP Program
