Enrol in an ESL Course

Learn how to apply and get an application form. Enrolling in ILC ESL courses

ILC's English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are for adults who speak little or no English. Students must have someone to act as a volunteer tutor to help with their studies. The courses are based on simple and natural language that will help adults communicate in everyday situations.

Credit and Non-Credit Courses

The credit courses are designed to prepare ESL learners to work towards an Ontario high school diploma. They have a final test and a final mark is recorded.

The non-credit courses have no final test or final mark. The goal of the non-credit courses is to encourage adult ESL learners to interact with other people in their community. Students receive a completion certificate at the end of each non-credit course.

New students should start with ESLAO-A (formerly ESL1N-E) and build skills that will allow them to proceed to the next course.
