Who Can Enrol
You must be:
- 18 years of age or older
- an Ontario high school student
- temporarily living outside Ontario for a minimum of three months to a maximum of three years
- a Canadian citizen, a landed immigrant, or a refugee, or an Ontario resident holding a diplomatic visa or ministerial permit.
If you will be studying in another country as part of a Student Exchange Program, please contact your Ontario school for instructions.
Fees
There is a non-refundable fee of $100 for each course. This administration fee covers the loan of course and supplementary materials, evaluation by certified teachers, and a final test.
How to Enrol
- Check the ILC high school courses list and choose the course you want.
- Make a note of the course name and code number.
- Download the Registration Package for Ontario Residents Over 18 Living Out-of-the-Province and complete the enclosed registration form (PDF, 1.54 MB).
- Submit an official, original Ontario Student Transcript.
- If you are under the age of 20, submit a Date of Leaving Letter from your last Ontario secondary school.
- If you are still in school but planning to leave soon, the school can indicate in the letter the date on which you will be leaving school. You may request an ILC course up to four weeks prior to your official date of leaving, but no earlier.
- If you are temporarily outside of Ontario but within Canada, you may enrol in one course at a time. If you are temporarily outside of Canada, you may enrol in up to four courses at a time.
- Submit all required documentation along with the registration form and payment of $100 for each course.
- Do not send cash. Payment can be by cheque or money order (made out to "TVO") or by Visa or MasterCard (by fax or mail).
- Be sure to sign the registration form.
- If you have any special needs and required accommodations in course work or test taking, please notify ILC when you enrol.
- If your application is complete, your course materials will arrive by mail in five to ten business days. If it is incomplete it will be returned to you.
