Getting Help

The ILC offers a range of services to meet learners' needs, whether it's a request for a progress report, contacting a teacher, or advice on course selection.

Help Doing a Lesson

The fastest way to ask for help from a teacher at ILC is by voicemail, fax, or email. You can download these homework resources (PDF, 140 KB).

Once your request is received, a teacher will get back to you in two to four business days. The teacher will make three attempts to reach you. Please be sure your request includes complete and accurate details about when and where you can be reached.

Email

You can email ILC at teacher@tvo.org.

Make sure that you give the following information in your email:

  • your name and ILC student number
  • your email address
  • the course code, unit, and key question number
  • a brief explanation of how ILC can help you

Voicemail

Call the ILC Student Help Line at 416.484.2673 or 1.800.736.6187, and leave a voicemail message with your question.

Speak clearly, and include the following information:

  • your name and ILC student number
  • your telephone number (include area code)
  • the best time to reach you during the day
  • the course code, unit, and key question number
  • a brief explanation of how ILC can help you

Fax

There is a Help! form at the back of the How to Get Started pamphlet, that you will receive with your first package of course material. Fax the completed form to 416.484.2754.

Mail

Complete the Help! form at the back of the How to Get Started pamphlet. Once your request is received, a teacher will contact you in two to four business days.

Ask a Teacher Online Homework Help

You can get help with math, science, or English homework through ILC's Ask a Teacher chat room service. This online service connects you live with certified Ontario teachers in real time. The Ask a Teacher tutors do not have access to ILC courses, but they can help you with questions about the three subject areas above.

Service available Sunday through Thursday evenings, from 5:30 p.m. EST to 9:30 p.m. EST. During the summer break, hours are 7:30 p.m. EST to 9:30 p.m. EST.
